SC Fair Housing Office
Since 1994, SCCOAH has served as Somerset County's Fair Housing Office to monitor housing practices and counsel victims of discrimination. SCCOAH's policies and activities promote the awareness of fair housing requirements. SCCOAH also provides consultation to developers and municipalities to ensure that rental and for-sale units are marketed in accordance with the affirmative marketing rules of the New Jersey Council on Affordable Housing (COAH).
SCCOAH ensures that all housing programs and services provided by the county, municipalities and SCCOAH itself are adminstered in a way that promotes fair housing on the basis of race, national origin, religion, gender, disability and familial status. This role is in keeping with SCCOAH's fundamental mission to increase access to affordable housing for all persons.
Annual Outstanding Achievement in
Affordable Housing Awards Breakfast
Each year, SCCOAH selects outstanding elected officials — local, state, and federal — as well as public servants, volunteers, banks, developers, attorneys and housing experts for exemplary service to the affordable housing sector. Annual housing awards citing outstanding achievement in affordable housing are given annually at a breakfast banquet attended by over 150 people. SCCOAH presents the awards, amid great ceremony, and invites a distinguished speaker to address the assembly.
